ipad/iphone apps

My county, in an effort to help teachers incorporate more technology in the classroom, has given us ipads for us to use with our students. I have been obsessed with researching apps and have found so many great ones to use in the classroom that I decided to create a list. All the apps are free or a lite free version of an app. I do want to add that they were free when I found them...I apologize for any apps that now cost money.

 The link below will take you to the Google Doc. The pics below are examples of the document and are not current...This list is ever changing so please visit the link often!!! New apps will be in red. Apps my kids love will be bolded. Blue/underlined apps are links to itunes.
****I'm in the process (as of today 1/27/12) of changing all of the apps into links that will take you directly to the app in itunes. This should make it easier for everyone to find the exact app I'm talking about.****

    At this point I'm not using any iPad apps for assessment tools. The iPad right now is a center and used for remediation and enrichment during other parts of our day. Our district has given us this year to get acquainted to the iPad and using it in the classroom. We are supposed to be getting more information soon about using it as an assessment tool.

    My team however does use Google Docs to record our data in. We can pull up those spreadsheets on our iPads and insert new data as we are testing from our iPads. We are also in the process of creating tests using Google Docs.

    Thank you so much for sharing!! I can't believe how many you have on the list! You should check out the Reading Eggs apps. They have a ton of them, each working with a different skill. I have tried one that works on sight words (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/eggy-250/id530378338?ls=1&mt=8) which kindergarteners always need work on. They have a version that is free (goes up to 100 words) and one for $2.99 (that goes up to 250 words). Thanks again!
