Kissing Hand Fun

Something new that I decided to do was a week of kissing hand activities. I found so many cute ideas on blogs and websites that I couldn't pass it up. For those that don't know about the book...This sweet story tells the tale of Chester Raccoon. He doesn't want to go to school, so his mother shares an old family secret with her tearful boy to make his night at school easier.

This link will take you to Online Storytime by Barnes and Noble which is currently featuring the Kissing Hand read by its author Audrey Penn.

Craft:
The kids loved taking pictures with the Chester raccoon puppet. They were also very excited to get to make their own Chester raccoon out of hearts!

Math:
We played a Kissing Number Bingo game with heart shaped counters and they got a Hersey Kiss when the board was full. When the game was over, the students completed a number tracing worksheet.

Picture Bingo:
The kids had to match pictures from the story on a Bingo board.

Story Recall:
We did a couple of story recall papers from The Mailbox. One on the stories sequence and the other on characters and settings from the story.

Snack:
Found these cute snacks on Pinterest that I'm going to have to do next year.

Note home to parents:

Unfortunately we were so busy, I don't have pictures of all those fun things. I'll have to remember to take them next year.  Pin It

  1. Where can I get a copy of the note home to parents where they put their handprint and heart in the middle. I love this and your blog!
    Thanks for your help!
